Public Pier, Boat Ramp & Park Construction
Fishing piers, boat landings, kayak launches, courtesy docks and park waterfront for counties, towns and park agencies — competitively bid, delivered on schedule.
Pier construction for the public that uses it hard
Public piers, boat ramps and park docks take more abuse than any private structure — heavy foot traffic, trailers backing down at every tide, and little budget for maintenance. They need to be built right the first time.
BluTide has built public waterfront for Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission, Berkeley County, the City of North Charleston, the Towns of Kiawah Island, Edisto Beach, James Island and Pawleys Island, and community associations along the coast.

Built for public procurement
We bid public work the way public owners need it bid: complete, on time, with bonds and insurance in order. We attend pre-bid meetings, submit RFIs early and keep the capital-project manager informed from notice to proceed through closeout.
Many boating-access projects are funded through state boat-landing programs, the federal Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Infrastructure Grant programs, or resilience grants. We understand the reporting and Buy America-type documentation those funds can require.

From a public capital-project manager
I have worked with BluTide on several competitively-bid projects, and they have all been completed to our satisfaction. Their staff are personable and knowledgeable, and able to adapt to unforeseen conditions in a reasonable and timely manner.
Frequently asked questions
Do you bid county and municipal projects?
Yes — most of our public work is competitively bid. Send the solicitation number or invite us to the plan-holders list.
Can BluTide work under our general contractor on a larger park project?
Yes. We regularly carry the marine scope — piers, docks, boardwalks and ramps — as a subcontractor on park and site-development packages.
What does a public fishing pier cost?
Length, deck width, pile type and depth, railing and lighting, and site access drive the cost. We can provide budget pricing during design to help with grant applications.
Where do you build public piers and boat ramps?
Across coastal South Carolina, and across the Southeast for the right project. See our service area.
